Clinical Services

Westchester Arc’s clinic, licensed by OMRDD (Office for Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities), focuses on helping individuals with developmental disabilities adapt to daily life.

There are many ways in which we can help,
including, but far from limited to:

  • Difficulty with daily routines
  • Eating disorders
  • Mobility
  • Speech and language delay
  • Guardianship evaluations
  • Capacity for informed consent
  • Obstacles to job performance
  • Bereavement
  • Anxiety relating to a change in residence
  • Stress management
  • Aging issues

Dr. Claudia Sickinger, trained in psychiatry at Mt. Sinai Hospital, leads a team of licensed/certified professionals in providing services that are tailored to individual needs. Our intake evaluations involve as wide a “circle of support” as possible and family involvement—consistent with confidentiality and independence—is considered key to successful treatment. An individual’s goals, psychosocial assessment and personal history are analyzed, and a psychological evaluation is conducted to assess the individual’s intelligence level and ability to adapt to the community. We offer full neuropsychological testing to identify neurological, cognitive and psychiatric issues.

The clinic provides person-centered services
in the following areas:

Individuals are eligible to receive these services if they reside in Westchester County and are diagnosed as having a developmental disability. Family members are also eligible to receive clinic services if it is determined that such treatment enhances the care of the individual with a developmental disability.

The clinic is located at The Gleeson-Israel Gateway Center
265 Saw Mill River Road, Hawthorne, New York. Business hours are Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Evening and weekend appointments can be arranged, as can off-site visits. Private pay, private medical insurance, Medicare and Medicaid are accepted.
