| Carolyn proudly receives a City of Yonkers Proclamation from Deputy Mayor William Regan. |
The Knights of Columbus’ La Rabida Council has named Carolyn Holodak, a self-advocate serving on Westchester Arc’s board of directors, “Woman of the Year.”
Over 50 people, including former Yonkers Mayor John Spencer and current Deputy Mayor William Regan, honored Carolyn at a dinner, held March 25 at Beckwith Pointe in New Rochelle. In recognition of the event, The Knights of Columbus made a contribution to Westchester Arc’s capital campaign and city officials declared March 25, 2007, Carolyn Holodak Day
in Yonkers.“
I am thrilled by this honor,” says Carolyn.
“My dad has been involved with the Knights
of Columbus for a very long time, and I’m happy to share this with him.”
Carolyn has supported the Knights of Columbus for over 20 years, selling raffle tickets and attending fundraisers. An active member of the community, she has a full-time job at Yonkers City Hall, volunteers for the American Red Cross and travels to Washington, D.C., and Albany to advocate on behalf individuals with developmental disabilities.
“Carolyn is selfless person who brings energy and compassion to every cause she believes in,” comments Ric Swierat, Westchester Arc executive director. “Her recognition is much deserved.”
