Planned Giving

The rewards of planned giving can be immeasurable...

Many people believe that they lack sufficient assets to fund a trust or to include a charitable gift in their will. They assume that the joy of philanthropy and the tax advantages of a planned gift are privileges of the wealthy, not people like themselves.

Not true. Today, many people of all ages and backgrounds are making a difference in the lives of people they love, in their community and in their own lives.

  • A retired accountant donates a life insurance policy to the Westchester Arc Foundation to ensure the long-term security of programs that are under-funded by government sources. He reduces his taxes.
  • Two school teachers include a bequest in their will to Westchester Arc's pre-school. Their gift reduces the estate taxes their own children will pay.
  • Parents of a child with developmental disabilities use appreciated stock to fund a Supplemental Needs Trust. Their gift enhances their child's quality of life and avoids capital gains tax.

The ability of Westchester Arc to reach out to the greatest number of people who have developmental disabilities has been greatly enhanced by bequests from family members and friends over the years. Westchester Arc’s ability to provide quality, leading edge programs now and in the future will continue to be directly influenced by those who plan their estates to include lifelong gifts and bequests to the Westchester Arc Foundation. We salute those individuals who have had the vision and forethought to consider us in their future plans.

Legacy of Love Society

All those who notify us that they have included the Westchester Arc Foundation as a beneficiary of their estate plans will become members of our Legacy of Love Society and will be honored at an annual event.
